Meet Beorn

Beorn is our gentle Great Pyrenees, who is ready to make new friends on his very own Bark Bus!Beorn was raised on a farm in the country and now lives a city life, but his heart is still for the open spaces.We are excited to welcome your dog on Beorn's Bark Bus adventures.


What We Do

We will pick up your dog from your home and take them on a fun and safe adventure, exploring private dog parks and trails.After an outing of exercise and socialization with new friends, we will drop off your dog, back at home, happy and hopefully dog tired.Even if you’re busy or away, we’ll provide the same full service—just ask us how!


What To Expect

Once all dogs are onboard the bus, we will be on our way to off-leash fun at a private dog parks and on-leash hikes down local nature trails.Each adventure is tailored to provide physical enrichment to make sure your dog returns home happy and fulfilled.


Keeping Safe

Safety is our top priority. Your dog will be secured by their harness to their seat during transit and on-leash except when inside a designated off-leash park.Your dog will be under our close supervision at all times while in our care.All dogs are screened for temperament and up-to-date vaccinations.

How It Works

Visit Beorn's Bark Bus Portal to sign up and tell us about your dog. The portal is also where you will book your rides, track your bookings, and update all of your information.


Beorn's Bus Schedule

Pick-up and drop-off happen within a general time window, not an exact time, depending on traffic and the daily route. All times are approximate.

About Us

Dina
Co-Founder & Customer Service

Dina graduated from N.C. State with a degree in Animal Science and spent over 15 years working as a Registered Veterinary Technician in animal hospitals in both North Carolina and Virginia. While living near the Shenandoah Valley, she also managed her family-owned hobby farm, home to chickens, goats, horses, alpacas, and five beloved dogs -- including Beorn! The Bark Bus is the realization of her dream to care for her community's pets in fun, fresh, and personal way.

Tim
Co-Founder & Driver

Tim has a background in hospitality as former manager of a bed and breakfast and hobby farm in Virginia. He has years of experience in managing dogs and other animals in that role. When you see Beorn's Bark Bus about town, you will see Tim in the driver seat!

Maria
Chaperone & Social Media Manager

Maria is one of our daily field trip chaperones, who started her lifelong dedication to animals from an early age. Her very first job at a boarding facility introduced her to professional animal care, and she has carried on this passion for many years, in boarding, overnight pet sitting services, and dog walking. She loves caring for dogs and helping busy owners provide a fulfilling life for their pets. Along with her own three spoiled basset hounds at home, she can't wait to play with all of Beorn's friends on the Bark Bus!

Ryan
Chaperone & Information Technology

Ryan is chaperone on the bus who looks forward to meeting all the dogs on Bark Bus! As a software developer he is our primary tech support as well. He says, “I’ve gone from software drivers to driving soft fur.” Ryan will match your dogs in energy and keep them entertained during their excursions on the Bark Bus. He has experience with pet sitting and dog walking. On the Bark Bus, Ryan will give his all to entertain your dogs, keeping them energized and happy during their adventures.

Getting Started
How do I sign up?

Please visit our portal to create your profile. During sign-up, you'll be asked to sign our waiver and submit your dog's vaccination records. Once everything is complete, we'll review your information and approve you to start booking ride.

What do you require for my dog to ride?

During sign up you will be asked to sign a waiver and supply your dog's vaccination records.

In addition all dogs are required wear harnesses that will allow us to properly secure them to the bus seat belts.

How do I book a ride?

Booking a ride is easy! Once registered, just log into our portal, select "Book a Ride," choose your date, and pick which dog the ride is for.

What kinds of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards and Venmo. Cash and checks are also accepted by arrangement.

When is payment due?

After your dog’s ride, you’ll receive an invoice by email. You can pay conveniently online through the link provided.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel your booking at any time, for any reason, with no penalty.

Do you offer packages or other discounts?

Yes! We plan to offer package discounts. You will have the opportunity to purchase multiple rides in a discount package soon!

Safety & Screening
Do you screen dogs before allowing them to ride?

Yes. We check vaccination records and screen for behavioral traits such as aggression or anxiety to ensure a safe experience for all dogs.

Do you have any breed or size restrictions?

No breed or size restrictions. We group dogs by size, temperament, and play style for each session.

Will the dogs on the bus be compatible in size?

Absolutely! We thoughtfully group dogs and sometimes offer small-dog-only sessions to ensure comfort and safety.

Do the dogs have seatbelts?

Yes! All dogs are secured with seatbelts attached to their harnesses while the bus is moving.

How many dogs are on the bus?

Up to 12 dogs per session.

How many staff are on the bus?

Each ride includes 2 to 3 staff members, depending on group size and needs.

Logistics & Daily Routine
Will you pick up and drop off my dog while I am at work?

Yes! We offer concierge pickup and drop-off service, including a meet-and-greet beforehand to set up access arrangements.

Does the bus come to my neighborhood?

We serve Raleigh, including downtown, North Hills, Six Forks, and Brier Creek. If you're nearby, we likely cover your area!

Which parks and hiking trails do you use?

We visit Winterpast Farm Private Dog Park, Falls Lake, Blue Jay Point Park, and other nearby dog-friendly parks and trails.

Are the dogs allowed off leash?

Only inside designated off-leash parks, following all local laws and safety guidelines.

Do you supply harnesses?

We ask owners to provide properly fitting harnesses. Harnesses are required for safety.

Do you provide water and snacks?

Yes! Fresh water is always available, and snacks are provided during adventures.

What happens in the case of foul weather?

We operate in most weather, but may cancel rides if road conditions are hazardous. During storms, dogs remain safely sheltered on the bus.

Yes! We carry full business, vehicle, and pet services insurance, and we are bonded for your peace of mind.

What are Bark Bucks?Bark Bucks are our way of saying thank you! They’re a virtual currency you earn and spend with us to save on future rides. Bark Bucks never expire, and while they’re not redeemable for cash, they can get you free sessions before you know it.How You Earn Bark BucksFive (5) Bark Bucks are awarded for every full-price session completed. You might also earn bonus Bark Bucks for referrals, special promotions, surprise giveaways, and more!RestrictionsBark Bucks are not earned for otherwise discounted rides, including those rides paid for with Bark Bucks.How to Use Your Bark BucksWhen your Bark Bucks balance meets or exceeds the price of a ride, we’ll automatically apply them to cover the full cost.Example:
If your ride costs $50 and you have 50 Bark Bucks, your ride is free! You’ll receive an invoice showing $0 due and your updated Bark Bucks balance.
Bark Bucks and TicketsIf you purchase a ride package and are using your ride package bus tickets for your rides, you will still earn 5 Bark Bucks for those rides. When you have enough Bark Bucks, they will be applied to your ride ahead of your next ticketed ride.For example, if you have 3 tickets to spend for upcoming rides, and also enough Bark Bucks to cover the cost of your next ride, then your next ride is free and the Bark Bucks will be deducted from your account.You will still have your 3 tickets available for upcoming rides.Checking Your BalanceYou can view your current Bark Bucks total anytime in your customer profile through the Portal. Account totals are updated daily when invoices are issued for that day's rides.
